1) What made you decide to write The Deep End?
I wanted to write about the possibility of finding something
that you least expect, right when you least expect it. And what
better place for a little fantasy than a nightclub? I wanted the
story to take place with a group of friends over the course of
one evening, and to tell each woman’s story one by one… her
past experiences, her hopes, and what happens to her on this
fateful night.
2) What do you think accounts for the rise in popularity of
erotic romance, and how is it different from erotica?
I think for a lot of women who enjoy reading about sex, they
want a little romance to go along with it. Erotic romance can
provide spicy sexual encounters in the context of a romantic
storyline, whereas erotica doesn’t have to play that role. It can
be pure titillation.
3) Where do you get the inspiration for those hot steamy
passages?
Ha ha ha…I’m blushing! Generally I just put my characters
together and see how things heat up, while giving my
imagination permission to go wild. When it comes to writing
hot scenes, I feel the sky’s the limit, and it’s always a blast
coming up with sexy scenarios to put my characters in and
finding creative ways to steam things up.
4) What do you think the advantages are working with a
small publisher, such as Chances Press?
I enjoy the personalized attention from my editor, and I have a
lot more freedom to tell the kinds of stories I enjoy writing,
whatever that might be at the time. I’m free to explore and take
“Chances”. Hey, it’s all in the name!
5) And finally, what's next for Madison?
Right now, I’m working on a novella entitled Desert Heat. It’s
about two best friends who can’t hold back their attraction for
one another when they head to Vegas. After a night of
passion, Annalisa tries to come to terms with the fact it was
only a night and that the jet-setting Dylan is not hers forever.
But before they get on a plane to come home again, Dylan is
determined to convince her that he doesn’t want her for a
night: he wants her for keeps.
I’m also very excited to be working on my next collection of
romantic short stories, The Deep End Volume II.
